What we set today
Less than most sites, and we would rather say so plainly than pad this page out. As it stands this site sets no advertising cookies, runs no third-party tracking pixels, and has no social media embeds. The only thing stored on your device by default is the record of the choice you made in the cookie banner.
Strictly necessary
Two things, neither of which can be switched off without breaking something. The first is ekx_consent, which remembers whether you accepted or rejected measurement so the banner stops asking; it lasts a year and holds nothing but your answer and the version of this policy you answered. The second only appears if you log in to the site dashboard, which is staff rather than guests: WordPress sets a session cookie to keep you signed in.
Measurement
We do not run analytics on this site today. The switch exists anyway, off by default, so that if we add a way of counting which trips people read before they enquire, it is governed from the first day rather than retrofitted afterwards. Nothing in that category loads unless you turn it on.
Things that are not cookies but are worth knowing
Unless we have switched to a self-hosted copy, the Manrope typeface is loaded from Google Fonts. That sets no cookie, but Google does receive the IP address of anyone who loads a page, which is a privacy consideration even though it is not a cookie one.
When you send an enquiry we keep a short-lived count of submissions from your connection to stop the form being abused. That lives on our server against a one-way hash of your IP address, expires after an hour, and is not stored on your device.
Changing your mind
Use the cookie preferences link at the foot of any page. Your previous answer is pre-filled, and a new one replaces it immediately. You can also clear cookies in your browser, which removes our record of your choice and means the banner will ask again.
If this policy changes
Each version of this policy carries a number. If we add a category or change what an existing one covers, that number changes and everybody is asked again rather than being held to an answer they gave to a different question.
Who to write to
A person reads this address, not a queue. info@elitekarakoram.com. We answer within four working hours, and we will tell you plainly if the answer needs a lawyer rather than an operations director.
